Neston Flicks is a Community Cinema in Neston Civic Hall, organised by a team of local volunteers and NCYC’s Community Activities Coordinator, Zaria Shreef).
With a mixture of classics and recent releases, the Flicks’ monthly films have a loyal audience who come early to eat and drink as volunteers serve food, and the licensed bar is open. MC Janet is there to introduce the film and give out community notices, and the interval allows viewers to purchase ice creams, drinks from the bar, or get a cup of tea and home-made hot scouse with crusty bread. You can buy food vouchers in advance for £4.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and films start at 7 p.m. Tickets cost £5 (£3 for those 16 and under) and can be purchased from Neston Community & Youth Centre, My Gift Place on Neston High Street or Neston Library, or online.
Tickets can also be bought on the door, but it’s always better to buy in advance.
Volunteers meet monthly to plan each film, and work on the night to provide a great cinema experience. Volunteers are always needed to train for roles as front of house staff, ticket sellers, refreshment servers, and behind the scenes for administration and publicity. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and ability to commit a few hours a month.
NCYC’s Activities Coordinator Zaria Shreef says, “We have some brilliant films planned, and all the volunteers have a great time putting the films on. The atmosphere at the Civic Hall on Flicks night is something special!” To find out more about volunteering for Neston Flicks, contact Zaria on 0151 336 7805 or email.
Neston Flicks is funded by CWaC Councillors and Neston Town Council.
