New Mayor of Neston elected for the civic year 2024/2025

At the Annual Meeting of the Council held on Tuesday 20th May 2025, at Neston Town Hall, Cllr Simon Davies was elected as Mayor of Neston for the new Civic Year 2025/2026. The outgoing Mayor, Cllr Sion Jones, presented the recently refurbished Chains of Office to Cllr Davies in a short ceremony.

Members then had a packed agenda to work through in the meeting which lasted for an hour and a half as the Council prepared for the year ahead, by confirming all statutory requirements, both new and existing policies, updated Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and assigning committee membership to mention but a few items.  

Following a two-year stint as Deputy Mayor, Cllr Brenda Marple congratulated Cllr Carol Braithwaite on taking over the role of Deputy, on being elected to office.

The meeting was briefly suspended for both the incoming Mayor, Cllr Simon Davies, and the incoming Deputy, Cllr Carol Braithwaite to accept copies of the Good News Bible, presented by Mr Alan McGraa. Cllr Jones was also presented with a copy of the Good News Bible shortly before he retired as Mayor of Neston, prior to the meeting.

Cllr Kynaston thanked Cllrs Jones and Marple for their contributions and dedication to their roles.
