Neston Town Council will be holding this year’s Halloween & Harvest market on Friday
31st October. Neston’s Mayor, Cllr Simon Davies, will be joined by the Deputy Mayor,
Cllr Carol Braithwaite, to Judge the entries and present the prizes, for the Market
Traders’ best carved or decorated pumpkin competition at around 10.30 am. You are
invited to come and see the imaginatively crafted entries for yourself. The Council are
pleased to announce that they will be joined by a Magical Wizard for the day! He will
be wandering around, possibly causing mystical mischief and hopefully helping with the
judging, plus he may have some little gifts to hand out too, especially to other fellow
wizards and witches!
The Council has added a harvest theme to this year’s market and are also delighted to be
joined by Wirral Pomona Community Cider Making Group who will be demonstrating their
apple press. Children will be able to turn the handles to press the juice which they can then
taste, you are also welcome to bring any surplus apples to be pressed, with a clean
container to take some juice away. The group aim to educate, pass on ideas and get people
thinking about the environment, traditions and healthy food. They will have some related
produce for sale such as chutneys, marmalades and carvings from orchard wood,
but no cider on this occasion!
Why not take a break from shopping at the wide variety of stalls available, to enjoy a
drink or a snack from one of the mouthwatering food stalls? Don’t forget to stock up on
treats for your Halloween parties too! You may even find a Halloween themed character
or two helping out on a stall.
Children are invited to enter the FREE Halloween Pumpkin trail. Entry forms are available from the
charity book stall and Neston Town Council will be providing a small prize for all entries.
There will be lots of other FREE activities from 9 am too; Little Actors Theatre Company will
be providing a themed craft activity and Ness Gardens will be offering a themed planting
related activity.
Neston Town Council are also pleased to arrange FREE face painting for children from 9.00am together with FREE spooky biscuit decorating, and they look forward to seeing the creative spooky designs.
Halloween fancy dress is optional for the young and the young at heart, but since the market is actually on
Halloween, why not join in the fun! A limited number ‘awards’ for the best Halloween costumes will be
handed out for those spotted during the market day.
