Neston’s Annual Town Meeting 2024/2025
Neston Town Council hosted the Annual Town Meeting on Tuesday 7th May at 6pm at the Town Hall. The Annual Report 2024/25 was formally published at the meeting and received by the Mayor of Neston, Cllr Sion Jones. The full report is available to read online on our website HERE
The meeting kicked off with a rousing performance from Neston Samba lead by Neston’s youth drummers, hosted by Stu Hardcastle. We thank you for your energy and enthusiasm, everyone enjoyed the demonstration immensely. Attendees also received short presentations from representatives of local groups and organisations who have benefitted from Town Council grant funding over the course of the past year.
Mrs Pat Wood of Neston Flower Society summarised the first-rate work of the Neston Flower Society who contribute to many local events throughout the calendar year, including the Ladies Day Walk with handmade displays. Last year’s grant helped the group to mark the 65th year of the society by staging a special exhibition in the Town Hall. Mr Keith Moores spoke passionately about two local organisations he co-ordinates – Neston Village Fair and Neston & District Art Society. The village fair will celebrate its 25th anniversary in July 2025. The event is only £1.00 to enter and under 16s can enjoy the event free of charge. The village fair provides a great opportunity for local groups and charities to showcase their work. The Town Council also supported the Neston & District Art Society, which helps the group to stage their annual exhibition in the Town Hall and keep members’ fees down, making it a very inclusive society. The most recent exhibition in April 2025 also partnered with Neston High School. Mr Moores noted he was proud that the society was able link up with young people in Neston and showcase their work.
Council members enjoyed hearing first-hand about the benefits that grant funding really does bring our local groups in Neston. Residents also used the meeting to raise local issues and to bring these to the attention of the Town Council which will be followed up directly.
Thank you to everyone involved.
